Instructions

  1. Campfire S'mores

    • 1

Break a graham cracker in half. Place the two pieces aside. Break off approximately 1/8 of your chocolate bar. Most chocolate bars are already separated into smaller chunks for easier breaking. 1/8 will translate to breaking off two or three of the small squares outlined in your chocolate bar. Set chocolate pieces aside.

    • 2

Place one marshmallow on the sharp end of your roasting skewer. Roasting skewers are available in stores that sell camping gear or specialty cooking suppliers.

    • 3

Hold your marshmallow by the skewer over one of the flames. Do not put the marshmallow near the bottom of your fire, they easily slide off once they get hot. Be sure to hold it just above the tip of one of the flames.

    • 4

Watch as the marshmallow starts to turn golden brown at the edges. Do your best to not let it catch fire. Remove it from the flame.

    • 5

Sandwich the marshmallow between the two pieces of graham cracker and slide it off the skewer while holding the grahams in place.

    • 6

Remove the top graham cracker and place your chocolate on top of the roasted marshmallow. Replace the cracker and gently mush it down on the chocolate. Allow several seconds for the chocolate to melt and enjoy.

    Microwave S'mores

    • 7

Break the graham cracker in half and then break off a piece of chocolate bar that fits on the graham cracker. Set chocolate aside and place one half of the graham on the microwaveable plate.

    • 8

Place marshmallow on top of the graham on your plate. Place plate in the microwave. Set the microwave to 15 seconds and hit Start. Watch the marshmallow in the microwave; it will expand. The exact time needed will depend on your microwave. The marshmallow is done when it has expanded to approximately double its usual size. Start with 15 seconds and increase if necessary.

    • 9

Remove the plate from the microwave. Place the piece of chocolate on top of the marshmallow. Place your second graham piece over the chocolate. Gently mush them together. Allow the chocolate to melt a bit and then enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have plenty of napkins on hand, especially if you're using a campfire. Eating S'mores is messy.

  • Never allow children near a flame. Adults should make the s'mores when using a campfire. Never try to cook s'mores with a flame indoors.
