A bouquet of rosebuds made out of Hershey's Kisses makes a sweet Valentine's Day or anniversary gift, wedding favor or edible decoration. Hershey's Kisses rosebuds are inexpensive to make, and are simple enough that you can make a large number in a short time. Make several small bouquets, or make one giant one to display on the dessert table and see how long it takes for guests to realize that it's part of the spread. Find the non-edible materials at craft shops.
Things You'll Need
- Hershey's Kisses
- Nontoxic white glue
- Red cellophane
- Green floral tape
- Floral wire
Place a drop of white glue on the bottom of a wrapped Hershey's Kiss. Take a second candy and press the two flat bottoms together. Set aside and repeat with the rest of the candies, until you have tray of diamond-shaped double Hershey's Kisses.
Cut the red cellophane into 4 1/2 inch squares. You'll need one square for each pair of Hershey's Kisses. Cut the same number of 15 inch lengths of floral wire.
Place one tip of one double candy in the center of the square of cellophane. Hold the end of a piece of floral wire against the other tip.
Pull the corners of the cellophane over the candies and twist it over around the base with the wire. Wrap floral tape over the base so that the cellophane is attached securely to the floral wire and the glued-together candies look like a rosebud.
Wrap the floral tape to halfway down the wire stem.
Repeat steps 3 to 5 with the remaining glued-together candies.
Arrange the Hershey's Kisses rosebuds in a vase, or tie them together with a bow to make bouquets. Trim the stems as necessary.
Tips & Warnings
- You can use any variety of Hershey's Kisses, but keep in mind that the cellophane is see-through.
- Add artificial leaves to the stems, if desired.
- Put a block of dry floral foam in the bottom of the vase, and stick the ends of the rosebuds in the foam to arrange them.
- Be sure to use nontoxic white glue on the foil bottoms if you plan to eat the rosebuds. Royal icing or clear tape can also be used.
