How to Get Burt's Bees Out of Clothes

Christina Sloane

Burt’s Bees is a company responsible for a line of eco-friendly, non-comedogenic beauty products. Though the company produces a full line of skin care products, it is best known for its lip balm, made from beeswax and other natural ingredients.

Wax in lip balm may stain clothing.

Accidentally running a tub or tube of lip balm through the washer and dryer can cause the wax to stain your clothing. Burt’s Bees recommends using hot water to remove lip balm stains.

Tip

If your garment can’t be washed in hot water, take it to a dry cleaner to have the stain removed.

  1. Wash the soiled garment in a washing machine in hot water and a scoop of laundry detergent.

  2. Boil water in a large pot and remove from heat. If the stain remains, place the soiled garment in the hot water and add a scoop of laundry detergent. Repeat the process several times until the stain comes out.

  3. Apply a stain-removing product to the stained area if the stain still won’t come out. Follow the directions on your specific product. If the stain remover won’t work, take the garment to a dry cleaner.
