Instructions

  1. Cookie Cutters

    • 1

Trace the inside of a 3-inch cookie cutter shaped like a sports-related item, on a piece of heavy card stock. The color of the card stock depends on your chosen shape. For example, if you are making a basketball, use orange card stock, if you are making a golf ball, use white card stock, for a baseball bat, brown card stock.

    • 2

Cut out the shape using scissors.

    • 3

Add details to the cutout shape using acrylic paints, markers, glitter or stickers. For a basketball, add black lines; for a baseball bat, add wood grain.

    • 4

Turn the decorated cutout over and write your invitation information on the back.

    Postcards

    • 5

Take a photograph of sports equipment that matches your party theme. For example, if the party is a football party, take a photograph of a football, cleats and a helmet. Alternatively, if the party is a golf party, photograph a bag of golf clubs or a pyramid of golf balls.

    • 6

Print the photograph using a home printer or the photo printer at the local drugstore. You need one print for each guest invitation.

    • 7

Turn the photographs over and draw a line down the center. Write the party details on the left and the guests address on the right, similar to a postcard layout.

    • 8

Mail the photo invitations as you would a regular postcard.

    Tickets

    • 9

Cut pieces of light colored card stock into 2-inch-by-5-inch rectangles. You need one rectangle per guest.

    • 10

Design a sports seating ticket on one side of the rectangles. Use language you find on a ticket, such as Admits One, Event Seating and Seat Number. For the event, indicate the type of party, date, time and location. Indicate on the ticket to bring the invitation for admission into the party.

    • 11

Place one ticket for each guest into an envelope. Mail as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • When making postcard invitations, use a photo-editing program to enhance the image before printing, if desired.

  • Include a sports card for your chosen theme. For example, if you plan baseball party, choose one of the above invitation methods and place a baseball card in the envelope. If you choose the postcard method, mail the photo invitation in an envelope with the sports card, instead of like a postcard.
