How to Activate Your Gamestop Edge Card

Save

Regular customers at Gamestop can alleviate the stress of their expensive hobby by signing up for a PowerUp Rewards Pro card. The popular U.S. game store offers a two-tiered rewards program, PowerUp Rewards, which offers loyal customers the opportunity to save money on pre-owned games, accessories and strategy guides, as well as earn credit for their purchases. The PowerUp Rewards program and its upgrade, the PowerUp Rewards Pro program, replaced the previous reward program, called "The Edge," in the fall of 2010.

  • Visit a Gamestop location with your Edge card. Ask the clerk to check the credit balance on the card. This way you will know how much credit will transfer to your new PowerUp Rewards Pro card.

  • Fill out the sign-up form for the PowerUp Rewards Pro card. The form asks for your name, age, e-mail and address. Do not pay the application fee. As long as your Edge card is still active, you may trade it in for the PowerUp Rewards Pro card. All of your benefits, such as your subscription to Game Informer magazine, will continue. As of 2011, it will cost $14.99 to renew your annual membership when the current one expires.

  • Ask the clerk to activate the card if she hasn't done so during the application process. Ask her to check your credit amount to ensure that it has remained the same and that it transferred correctly.

  • Use your PowerUp Rewards Pro card at checkout if you are making a purchase. This will accrue points that you can use to make purchases at Gamestop.
