Look in the Yellow Pages under "legal aid," "lawyer" and "attorney." Call the firms listed and ask them if they provide free or discounted legal aid. Be prepared to provide your income level. Legal aid agencies provide their services to low-income individuals. If you find a firm or agency that provides free legal aid, schedule an appointment. If they don't provide free legal aid, ask if they will give you a free consultation. Many lawyers will provide the names of colleagues who do pro bono work.
