Find out what actually causes your large pores. Genetics play a huge part in your pore size and, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change that factor. Naturally oily skin can make a difference in your pore size. The body naturally produces sebum, which is an oily substance that secretes through the skin, preventing it from drying out. If you have very oily skin, dirt may start to build up in your pores, making them swell and stretch.

Use a topical retinoid solution to treat your skin. This will help dissolve the bacteria on your skin and minimize acne and sun damage, both of which can cause oversized pores. Use these creams as directed and make sure you apply sunscreen when you are in the sun.

Keep your pores clean. Cleaning your pores isn't always easy, but it's absolutely necessary in order to reduce their oversized appearance and prevent them from stretching even larger. Use a skin cleaner every day and any time after you sweat. Use an exfoliate once a week. Regular cleansers are not as successful at cleansing large pores, but exfoliates should only be used occasionally, as they can cause skin to dry out and produce more oil to compensate.

It's essential to use an appropriate moisturizer designed to not clog pores. Avoid oily moisturizers and start using a non-comedogenic moisturizer. Makeup can also cause oversized pores, so be sure to wash your makeup off before bed. Use a skin primer before applying foundation; this will help even out your skin tone while preventing makeup from seeping through your pores.
