How to Insert a Y-Bar Symbol in PowerPoint 2003

The y-bar symbol represents the mean, or average, of all y values. This symbol is a lowercase "y" with a flat line above it. If your PowerPoint presentation involves arithmetic means, statistics or other topics that require displaying a y-bar symbol, it's relatively simple to insert one into any slide.

      Open your Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

      Go to the slide in which you want to insert a y-bar symbol.

      Click inside the text box where you want the y-bar symbol to appear or choose "Insert" > "Text Box" to add a new text box.
