How to Begin the P90x Workout
P90X is an exercise DVD collection that incorporates weight training, body weights, kickboxing, yoga and core training. It's creator, Tony Horton, uses the concept of muscle confusion to maintain results by changing the workouts up every few weeks to avoid the plateau effect. The other key part of the program is the dieting guide that is included with the DVDs. Beginning the P90X workout program only requires purchasing several pieces of equipment and a few planning steps.

Buying the products you'll need.

Open the P90X box and remove the dietary packet that lists the meal plan.

Purchase the food that the meal plans requires from your local grocery store. It is important that you start the meal plan as you being the workout in order to achieve the best results possible.

Go to a sporting goods store. Here you will buy a pull-up bar and either dumbbells or a set of resistance bands.
Setting up and planning

Choose the room that you will be performing your workouts in. The room will need either a television or computer that can play DVDs. The room will also need enough room for you to move around freely while working out. Finally, there needs to be either a strong beam or door frame to support the pull-up bar.

Set up a schedule for yourself. In this schedule, you should devote about one hour a day to perform the P90X workout.

Weigh yourself and take a picture. You can use these for a reference and to chart your progress as you go along in the program.

Tips & Warnings
When buying the dumbbells, start with a smaller weight that you will be able to manage. Another option is buying a set of adjustable dumbbells which will save you the cost of buying a whole set and allows you to progress as you become stronger.
