How to Create a Mozilla Icon on the Desktop in Vista

Creating desktop shortcuts to commonly used programs ensures that those programs are only one click away. If you elected not to place icons on the desktop when you installed either Mozilla Firefox or Mozilla Thunderbird, you can always go back and add them on your own. Create your own icon on the Windows Vista desktop by copying the program icon from within the program folder and pasting it on the desktop.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" icon in the Windows Vista taskbar and then click "Computer."

    • 2

Click the "Local Disk (C:)" drive under "Hard Disk Drives."

    • 3

      Click "Program Files."

    • 4

Click "Mozilla Firefox" if you want to place the icon for Mozilla Firefox on your desktop; click "Mozilla Thunderbird" if you want to place the icon for Mozilla Thunderbird on your desktop.

    • 5

Right-click either the "firefox.exe" or the "thunderbird.exe icon and then click "Copy."

    • 6

Press the "Windows" and "M" keys at the same time to minimize all of the open windows.

    • 7

Right-click an open area on the Windows Vista desktop and then click "Paste." Depending on which icon you copied, either the Mozilla Firefox or the Mozilla Thunderbird icon will appear on the desktop.
