How to Upgrade iTunes on a Computer

Apple regularly releases upgrades for iTunes. Regardless of the version of iTunes you have on your computer, you can always upgrade to the latest version by downloading it from the Apple website. Upgrading to the latest version allows you to take advantage of the newest iTunes features, which enhance not only the application, but the Apple device you use with it. The upgrade automatically starts once the iTunes files download to your computer.

Instructions

1. Launch a Web browser, then navigate to the iTunes download webpage.

2. Select or de-select the check boxes depending on whether you want Apple to contact you about special offers, news and software updates. If you select either check box, enter your email address in the "Email Address" text box.

3. Click the "Download Now" button.

4. Click "Save File" in the pop-up window. The iTunes upgrade files automatically download to your computer.

5. Click the "Continue" button on the Windows User Account Control when prompted for permission to install the update.

6. Click the "I Accept" check box to accept the license terms and open a pop-up window showing the automatic upgrade progress. Click "Close" when the upgrade is complete.
