How to Uncurl Earphones

Headphone tangles are a headache to uncoil.

You are not alone if you have ever put headphones into a pocket only to pull out a large knot. With the advent of personal MP3 players and smart phones, headphones have become smaller. The secret to easily uncurling earphones is coiling them up correctly and neatly putting them away. Once that is mastered, uncurling your earphones becomes a tangle free task.

Instructions

1. Learn how to coil the earphones first to make uncurling them easy. Make the "devil's horns" by extending the index finger and pinkie of your non-dominant hand.

2. Hold the ear buds down under your middle two fingers. Wrap the earphone cord in a figure eight pattern around the extended fingers.

3. Pull the extended fingers out of the figure eight when the cord is completely wrapped. Pull the ear buds around the center of the figure eight and fold the two loops of the coil together. Store the earphones in a pocket or carrying case.

4. Pull the earphones out and unwrap the ear buds from the center of the coil. Open up the coil into the figure eight and untwist the center so the earphone cord is one large loop. Pull out from the ear buds to uncurl without knots and tangles.
