DIY Edible Favors
Wedding favors are take-home gifts that a bride and groom provide to guests, both to thank them for attending and to give them something by which to remember that special day. Edible favors like Jordan almonds and candy-coated chocolates are classic standards, but do-it-yourself snacks add a personal touch. Find an old family recipe or local flavor to give your guests a meaningful gift. Even packaging pre-made goodies in personalized bags or boxes takes your edible favors to the next level.

Create three-layer mini-cakes out of sugar cookies. Set aside three whole sugar cookies. Use cookie cutters to cut three each of three-inch and two-inch cookies. Spread a thin layer of frosting on top of three largest cookies; stack cookies on top of one another. Spread frosting on three-inch cookies and stack on top of larger cookies, being careful to center each one. Spread more frosting around outside of each layer of cookies, so that finished product looks like an iced three-tier wedding cake. Allow to dry. Place inside clear plastic or cardboard boxes.

Create packaged candy assortments. Select your favorite small candies and add them to a cellophane bag. Tie bag shut with twine. Using design software or word processor clipart, create a personalized label--try out different designs using your married monogram, first names, and sweet sayings like "Happily ever after." Ensure that designs are properly sized to fit the bag you are using, and arrange multiples on a single page to conserve paper. Carefully cut out each design and secure to cellophane bags using double-stick tape.

Design your own wrapper for chocolates or taffy. Unwrap taffy or chocolates and discard original labels. Cut squares of wax paper sized to fit each candy. Using design software or word processor, create a personalized label, print and cut out. Place a piece of double-stick tape on the top and bottom of the label and wrap around wax paper.
