How to Use a Proxy for HTTrack

Save

HTTrack features the ability to download entire websites. You can capture everything from HTML code to images. You may find it useful if you'd like to download the project bones of an old website or browse your favorite website while you're away from an Internet connection. And if you'd like to anonymously download a website, you can configure HTTrack to download your websites through a proxy.

  • Download and install a free copy of HTTrack (www.httrack.com), if you're not already using the program. Launch HTTrack by clicking on the program's icon on your desktop.

  • Click on the "Next" button in the program's main menu to begin a new project.

  • Give your project a name on the following page -- enter the name into the "New project name" field. Click "Next."

  • Click on the "Add URL" button on the next page to add a website to your project. Enter the Web address into the "URL" field when the "Insert URL" menu appears.

  • Enter a username and password, if required by the Web address, into the "Username" and "Password" field in the Insert URL menu. Click "OK" to close the menu. Click on the "Add URL" button again, if you need to add more websites to your project.

  • Click on the "Set Options" button. Click on the "Proxy" tab when the Set Options menu appears.

  • Enter your proxy's address into the left field under the Proxy tab, and enter the proxy's port into the right field under the tab. Click "Configure" if you need to enter a username and password for the proxy. Enter your credentials into the appropriate fields in the pop-up menu.

  • Close the Set Options menu. Click on the "Action" menu box and select the download rules from your project from the box. You can download all of the websites associated with links on your Web pages, continue interrupted downloads or simply download the selected websites.

  • Click "Next," and then click "Finish."
