How to Wash Dry-Clean-Only at Home
Certain fabric items say "Dry Clean Only" on the care instruction tag because they are more delicate, and the manufacturer can only put one set of care instructions on the tag. You can wash some dry-clean-only items safely at home, however. You just have to use common sense and gentle cleaning methods. This way, you can save some money on those expensive dry cleaning bills. Apply a dry-clean-only stain remover to any stains or spots on the fabric.

Rub the stain remover in gently to lift the stain. The sooner you can do this after it happens, the better chance you'll have at removing it.

Fill a basin with cold water and place the item inside.

Use a mild laundry detergent and add a very small amount to the water.

Let the item sit in the water for just a few minutes.

Remove and rinse with cold water. Lay the item flat to dry.

Tips & Warnings
Do not attempt to wash fabrics made of velvet, leather, suede, silk or wool. These items will be damaged.
