How to Remove a Friend on Twitter

Twitter lets you socialize with friends and promote your website or business to followers. If your friend is following you but you no longer want to receive messages from this friend, you must block the user's Twitter account name. Though Twitter includes the option to block certain users, they will not know that they have been blocked, so you do not have to worry that your friends will feel insulted because you've blocked them.

Instructions

1. Open your Web browser and navigate to the Twitter homepage.

2. Click on your friend's profile in your list of followers. If your friend is not in your list of followers, type the user's name in the search text box to open the user profile.

3. Click the "Gear" icon located under the user's name on the right side of the window. In the list of options shown, click the link labeled "Block User."

4. Click the "X" button to stop following the user account.
