Instructions

  1. Yogurt Peels

    • 1

Design a facial peel with your choice of fruit, which include berries, bananas, papaya, fruit juice, grapes or cherries. Each fruit has a specific chemical element that helps to nourish the skin. For instance, papaya contains the enzyme papain, which removes dead skin cells.

    • 2

Mash the fruit until it reaches a mushy consistency.

    • 3

Mix the fruit with milk or yogurt. The ratio will depend on the type of fruit, and how much of the fruit, you are using. In general, the consistency of the facial peel should be relatively thick and smooth. The fruit and yogurt combination not only helps with the application process, but yogurt is a natural moisturizer, reduces pore size and improves overall skin texture.

    Gelatin Peels

    • 4

Create a gelatin, cucumber and tea peel. Puree peeled and seeded cucumber cubes and then strain the fluids through a sieve. The cucumber serves as a natural astringent that tightens the skin and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles.

    • 5

Brew a pot of chamomile and green tea -- 1/2 cup of both teas is sufficient -- and then add one tablespoon of unflavored gelatin to the hot tea. Both teas alleviate facial puffiness, while gelatin has anti-aging properties.

    • 6

Stir the tea and gelatin mixture, until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

    • 7

Incorporate the strained cucumber juice and aloe vera gel to the tea mixture. Aloe vera helps to nourish and moisturize the skin.

    • 8

Allow the mixture to firm up in the fridge for 25 to 30 minutes before application.

    Signature Peels

    • 9

Improvise either the yogurt or gelatin facial peels by replacing additional ingredients with others you may have around the home. Keep in mind that yogurt facial peels work well with either solid mush or liquid, while gelatin peels will need liquid elements such as fruit juice or mineral water to create the peel.

    • 10

Test which ingredients works best for your skin. If yogurt is the base, ingredients such as honey, avocado, mint or lavender will not only nourish the skin, but also provide a relaxing scent. If gelatin is the base, consider liquids such as wine, tomato or citrus juice. Tomato juice especially helps to treat unsightly blemishes.

    • 11

Remember when substituting one ingredient for another that the consistency of the mixture is important for application. If you notice that a mixture has too much liquid, add a bit more yogurt, to balance it out.
