How to Control/Kill Weeds by Mowing
Weeds are a type of unwanted plant in the garden, as they expose newly-planted seeds to birds and absorb nutrients from crops. Consequently, weeds ruin and reduce yields of fruit, vegetables and wheat. Removing them permanently is the best solution, but often this is difficult to achieve. Therefore, using a mower to control them is a feasible option that requires no additional tools or chemicals. Controlling weeds in this way, however, is high maintenance. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Look at where the weeds are located in your garden. Mowing is a control method usable on lawns, pastures and fields owing to the bulk of the machine. If weeds are caught between paving or in flowerbeds, then find an alternative method to kill the weeds.
-
2
Set up the mower, making sure that the cable can reach to the areas that you want to kill the weeds.
-
-
3
Use the mower to cut away at the weeds, avoiding any trees, plants or objects that appear as obstacles during the process. Note where you saw the weeds when you inspected the lawn during Step 1.
-
4
Cut as close as possible to the base of the weed to remove its stem and leaves. Since you are not removing the root, it is likely to grow back so try and get rid as much of it as you can.
-
5
Use a garden rake to remove the dead weed heads. Pick them up from the mown area to prevent them from growing back.
-
6
Mow the area regularly to keep the weeds under control. Weeds species, such as Canada thistle, milkweed and goldenrod, require trimming back every eight to 12 weeks. After you have done this a few times, these weeds will eventually die.
