Invite your contacts to use Windows Live Messenger so you can easily stay in touch.

Microsoft Windows Live Messenger is one of the most widely used online instant messaging services. Microsoft has added many features to the program over the years, including video support, games, file transferring and the ability to call other computers and place international calls. You can add people to your contacts list if you know their email address or mobile phone number. If your contact does not have an account on Live Messenger, Microsoft will provide her with all of the necessary information to create one with your invitation.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Windows Live Messenger.

    • 2

Enter your Windows Live ID and password. Click the "Sign In" button.

    • 3

Click the "Add a Contact" icon located next to the "Search Contacts or the Web" box and select "Add a Contact" from the drop-down menu.

    • 4

Enter the instant messaging address of the contact you want to invite. Enter his mobile device number if you want to send instant messages to his mobile phone as text messages.

    • 5

Click the "Add to a Category (Select One)" drop-down menu and choose the contacts category you want to add him to.

    • 6

Type a message to include with the invitation -- this is optional -- and click "Send Invitation." You will be able to message your contact after he accepts your invitation.
