How Can I Hang Something on Drywall?
When hanging an object on drywall, it is always a good idea to use an anchor. This is a small piece of plastic that goes into the drywall before the screw. The anchor helps absorb some of the weight of the object, ensuring that your precious photos, flat-screen TV or other objects don't come crashing down off the wall and onto the floor below. 1
Place your anchor next to your drill bit. Line the bottom of the anchor up with the bottom of the drill bit. Make a mark on the bit with a pencil where the top of the bit rests. This will guide the depth of the hole.
-
2
Drill a hole in your drywall, using the mark you made as a guide. Do not drill the hole deeper than the mark on the bit.

3
Insert your wall anchor into the hole. Push the anchor as far into the hole as it will go. If necessary, use a hammer to apply additional force on the anchor during insertion.
-
4
Insert your screw into the opening of your wall anchor. Use the drill to drill the screw into the anchor. You can now use the screw to hang a picture on a wall, for example. If you're hanging something large like a flat-panel television mounting bracket, place the bracket against the wall before inserting the screw. Drill the screw through the hole cut into the metal of the bracket and into the anchor.
