How to Round a Number Using a TI-84 Plus

Save

The Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus calculator is a graphing calculator with the ability to solve a multitude of mathematical equations. The TI-84 Plus is the predecessor to the popular TI-83 Plus calculator. The TI-84 Plus offers three times as much memory than the TI-83 and is twice as fast, although both calculators function identically from a user-input standpoint. One convenient feature offered by the TI-84 Plus calculator is the ability to automatically round numbers to a specified number if decimal places. When a number is rounded, the numbers after the decimal point are reduced to specified number of places. The round feature saves time as all that is required is the number to be rounded and the number of decimal places that you would like to remain.

  • Press the "On" button to turn on the calculator.

  • Press the "Math" button and then press the "Right" arrow button to display the "Math" menu.

  • Press the "2" button to select "Round."

  • Enter the number that you would like to round.

  • Press the "," button and then enter the number of decimal places that you would like to round to. Alternatively, you can skip this step to round to the maximum number of decimal places, which is 10.

  • Press the "Enter" button to round the number to the specified number of decimal places.
