The papaya is a soft, sweet-tasting fruit that can be used in multiple dishes or eaten by itself. This delicious fruit is also really nutritious. It is full of antioxidants and potassium. It is also a good source of vitamin A,C, and D. Papaya can be prepared quickly and easily, ready to be added to a dish or eaten by itself.
Things You'll Need
- Ripe papaya
- Cutting board
- Peeler or paring knife
Wash the papaya.
Remove the peel with a paring knife or peeler.
Cut the papaya in half lengthwise.
Remove the seeds with a spoon (if desired). The seeds are edible, but have a peppery flavor.
Depending on how you want to eat the papaya, you can either use a spoon and eat it like a melon, or cut it into pieces and use it in fruit salad, salsa or smoothies.
Tips & Warnings
- If adding the papaya to a fruit salad, add it last and combine gently or it will become mushy.
- To pick a good papaya, look for one that is completely yellow rather than yellow with green streaks.
