How to Shrink the Address Bar in Firefox 3.6

Firefox 3.6 contains an address bar that appears on the navigation toolbar near the top of the Firefox window. The address bar automatically expands or shrinks to take up the free space on the Firefox toolbar. If you want the address bar to be smaller, you can enlarge the search box or add additional icons or spaces to the toolbar. The items will reduce the amount of available free space for the address bar, shrinking it.

Instructions

  1. Enlarge Search Box

    • 1

Position the mouse cursor to the left of the search box on the right side of the toolbar. The cursor changes into a double-sided arrow.

    • 2

Press the left mouse button and hold it down.

    • 3

Move the mouse cursor to the left. The search box grows larger and the address bar shrinks.

    • 4

      Release the left mouse button.

    Add to Toolbar

    • 5

Right-click the toolbar and click "Customize."

    • 6

Drag and drop toolbar icons to the right side of the address bar on the toolbar. If you want blank space instead of icons, drag and drop the "Space" items.

    • 7

Click "Done" when the address bar is an appropriate size.
