How to Retrieve iPhoto Thumbnails
The Apple iLife suite is bundled with iPhoto as its photo management software. The program displays the photos stored on the computer's hard drive in the form of iPhoto thumbnails, allowing you to scroll through and manage the photos in your library easily. If some or all of your iPhoto thumbnails are missing, you can retrieve them in a few simple steps by opening iPhoto in "rebuild" mode.
