How to Clean a Sand Filter
If you have a swimming pool on your property, then you also need to have a filter to help keep the water clean. One option for a swimming pool is a sand filter. The water filters through sand inside a tank. The debris traps in the sand, and clean water passes through the sand, down the filter and back into the swimming pool. With this type of filter, you eventually need to backwash it as part of the cleaning process. Does this Spark an idea?

2
Look through the sight glass of the sand filter to make sure the backwash process is taking place. You see water in the tank flowing in reverse, which removed the debris from the sand and pushes it through the waste line of the filter.

4
Put the Multi Port Valve onto the "Rinse" setting. This rinses out the sand filter and pushes the sand back into its proper place inside the tank. Turn off the "Rinse" setting after several minutes.
