How Can I Add Winks to Messenger?

Winks are large animated icons that you can make pop up on your friends' screens while using version 7 and above of the Windows Live Messenger instant messaging software (previously MSN Messenger). Windows Live Messenger comes with a fixed set of winks and does not allow you to easily add more. You can, however, install a free add-on that will let you add downloaded winks to Windows Live Messenger.

      Launch and log in to Windows Live Messenger.

      Download the MSN Winks Installer file (see Resources).

    • 3

      Launch the MSN Winks Installer program. Locate the wink files you want to add to Windows Live Messenger on your hard drive. Many Internet sites offer free and paid Windows Live Messenger winks you can download to your hard drive. Click on "Add this to MSN" after you have located the wink files on your drive. MSN Winks Installer will now add the winks to Windows Live Messenger.
