How to Turn Sugar Into Powdered Sugar
Powdered sugar dissolves easily and is commonly used to make desserts and beverages. If you have run out of powdered sugar and do not have time to run to the grocery store, make your own powdered sugar using granulated sugar and a food processor. The recipe yields 4 cups of powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar. Cornstarch acts as a binding agent and help the powdered sugar mix easily with other ingredients. Things You'll Need
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Food processor
- Spoon
- Container or zip-top bag

Place the sugar and cornstarch in the food processor bowl. You may use a blender if you don't have a food processor.

Switch on the machine on high and continue the process until the mixture turns into a fine powder.

Test the consistency by stirring the mixture with a spoon. This is important as sugar might cling to the sides of the bowl and not get powdered.

Use the powdered sugar as your recipe requires. Store the leftovers in an airtight container or zip-top bag.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the powdered sugar container out of direct sunlight and away from moisture and excessive heat.
Don't overload the food processor at one time as the granulated sugar requires space to whip around. If you need a lot of powdered sugar, divide the mixture in batches.
