A chocolate fountain is a pump-driven dessert centerpiece. The chocolate is melted and placed into the fountain which then circulates and heats the chocolate. Guests dip fruits and other sweet items into the chocolate. This extravagant display makes a great location for guests to mingle. Choosing the appropriate type of fountain for your gathering depends on the size, required dress and location of the gathering. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Decide whether your gathering will be held in a small venue, such as a home, or at a large venue, such as a gymnasium or conference hall. Decide what the dress-code will be; examples include formal, semi-formal, theme party or a casual event.

    • 2

Rent or purchase a smaller home fountain if you decide on a home-based event. These fountains are 28 inches tall and are designed with a home party in mind as they will fit on a kitchen or living room table. Rent or purchase a 4-foot tall fountain if you decide on a larger venue. These fountains can hold as much as 22 lbs. of chocolate and will feed up to 100 people.

Choose a stainless steel fountain if you have decided on a formal or semi-formal party, these fountains are more elegant and usually contain engravings and other visually appealing features. Choose a colored, plastic fountain for events where there is a risk of the fountain being knocked over, such as at a child's birthday party. Colored plastic is also suitable for other casual events.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not make the chocolate too hot before putting it in fountain. Super-heated chocolate will stick to, and burn, your guests.
