The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education maintains some GED records on-site. Other records can be obtained by contacting a Boston GED testing facility. If you need a copy of your GED transcripts for school enrollment or other purposes, you must complete a GED transcripts request and send or fax the documents, along with any applicable fees, to the appropriate facility.
Contact the original testing facility (see Resources). You might be required to provide ID verification to receive copies of your official transcript, which is a $7.50 fee per transcript as of April 2011. If you completed the GED exam with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, request your transcript in writing, including your full name, birth date, social security number, approximate testing date and a $7.50 money order made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Send requests to:
Massachusetts Department of Education

Malden, MA 02148-4906
Log on to Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's webpage. Employers and school or training programs can view the documents needed to download and complete an informal GED verification request free of charge (see Resources). After completing the request, fax it to 781-338-3089. A staff member will verify the individual's GED credentials and fax the document back to the agency. Note that this letter isn't considered a formal document. A letter of certification is required for formal documentation.
Request a letter of certification. This letter is required if you don't have a hard copy of your GED, because duplicate copies of GED diplomas are unavailable. Send a letter of request along with your full name, current address and phone number, social security number, birth date, test location and approximate test date. Include a $2 money order per request payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Expect a response within five to seven business days. Sign the document and send it to:
