How to Knit Graffiti
Knit graffiti is any knitted sculpture situated on property. It is a form of street art. Knit or crochet graffiti has become increasingly popular and can brighten up urban landscapes. It can be used as a tool to advertise one's knitting, or it can be created anonymously. Knit graffiti differs from traditional aerosol graffiti in that knit graffiti is easily removed, making it a non-destructive form of graffiti.

1
Decide where you want to create your knit sculpture. Trees, signs, buildings and vehicles are popular. Another approach is placing knit sculptures inside of buildings such as libraries, workplaces, markets, laundromats and other community spaces.

2
Decide what you want to knit. Do you want to make a sweater for a tree branch? A cozy for a sign? Maybe you'd prefer to make a free-standing sculpture that does not attach to property. Some knit graffiti artists like to include a personal tag.

3
Affix your sculpture to your desired site. This can be accomplished by sewing with yarn and a darning needle, creating a knit seam (i.e. three needle bind-off) or by using buttons, velcro or snaps.

Tips & Warnings
Choose your knit graffiti location wisely --- do not knit on private property, unless you have the consent of the property owner. Do not cover text on signs with your knitting.
