How to Reset G1 Settings

The HTC Dream (known in the U.S. as the G1) released by T-Mobile in the fall of 2008 was the first Android phone available to consumers, in addition to being the first Google branded phone. Like most modern phones, it allows a user to reset the phone to factory settings but keep user defined content, such as contacts, pictures and some types of apps, due to removable storage and integrated remote sync features.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the phone. Remove the SD card. Hold down the "Home" button and "End/Power" button until you see a screen with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.

    • 2

Open the keyboard, then press "Alt" and "L" to show your options. Press "Alt" and "W" to reset the phone to factory settings.

    • 3

Wait for any progress bars to complete, then do a "soft reboot" by pressing the "Home" and "Back" buttons simultaneously.
