How to Measure Drawer Pulls

Upgrade cabinet hardware to refresh your cabinetry.

Cabinet drawer pulls install onto the cabinets with screws. The pulls have threaded posts on the back side, and the screws slide through holes in the cabinet face into the posts. Typical pulls have two holes, and the common spacing is 2 1/2 inches. There are many styles and sizes for drawer pulls, so it is important to measure them before you purchase replacements. Replacing cabinet hardware is an affordable way to upgrade cabinets.

Things You'll Need

• Screwdriver
• Tape measure

Instructions

1. Open the cabinet drawer. Find the screws on the back side of the drawer face. These are the drawer pull mounting screws.

2. Unscrew the screws by turning a screwdriver in a counterclockwise motion and remove them from the drawer while holding on to the drawer pull.

3. Place the drawer pull on a work surface with the threaded posts facing up. Measure from the center of the screw hole in one threaded post over to the center of the other screw hole with a tape measure. This is the measurement required when selecting replacement pulls.

Tips & Warnings

• Select drawer pulls that match the existing metal in your room. For example, for kitchen cabinet hardware, match it to the refrigerator, stove and other main appliances.
