How to Draw a Large Five Point Star
Drawing perfect stars is a rewarding first exercise in draftsmanship. Even young children can learn the basics of constructing a five-pointed star with this method. By using a circle as the foundation for this star, the fundamental shape can be drawn precisely. Do not let any of your points extend outside of the circle for this procedure. As you gain proficiency with the process of star formation, you can draw them freehand.

1
Use a compass to lightly draw a circle on a sheet of paper with a with a pencil. This line will be erased at the completion of the star, so keep it faint.
-
2
Measure 72-degree portions along the circumference of the circle with a protractor. There will be five segments that add up to 360 degrees, which is a whole circle. Mark the points that demarcate these sections in pencil on the circle's edge.

-
3
Orient your circle so that one pencil mark is at the middle top of the circle.
-
4
Draw a line along the edge of a ruler that connects the two top points that are under this middle-top mark. This line will go from right to left across the inside of the circle.
-
5
Make a diagonal ruler line from the upper-left-hand point to the bottom-right-hand mark.
-
6
Proceed from this bottom-right mark to the center-top point with a line.
-
7
Follow the same straight-line method to connect the top point to the bottom-left point.
-
8
Connect the bottom-left pencil mark diagonally to the upper-right-hand mark to close the star.
-
9
Erase the initial penciled-in circle.
