How to Make Columns of Equal Size

Spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers and Open Office Calc rely on cells to store information contained in the spreadsheet. The cells are sorted by rows, which are a horizontal grouping of cells, and columns, which are a vertical grouping of cells. These programs allow you to adjust the properties of a single cell, entire row or entire column. Adjusting columns to the same width provides a uniform look to your spreadsheet and is a quick process.

  • Select the columns that you would like to resize. To select entire columns, hold the "Ctrl" button ("Command" on Mac) and click on each column.

  • Click "Format," located at the top of the Window, then select "Column" and then select "Width."

  • Enter the desired column width and click "OK."
