How to Manually Uninstall Applications in Windows 7

Deleting applications from your computer can free up space and improve your system's performance. But sometimes the uninstall process does not clear each and every file associated with an application from your hard drive. If you use Windows 7, you can uninstall an application using the Control Panel and then track down any lingering files using the operating system's Search function.

  • Click on the "Start" button.

  • Click "Control Panel."

  • Click "Programs."

  • Click "Programs and Features."

  • Click on the name of the application you want to uninstall.

  • Click "Uninstall."

  • Click on the "Start" button.

  • Type the name of the application you just uninstalled into the Search bar.

  • Right-click on the application folder if it appears.

  • Click "Delete" to clear any remaining files that the uninstall process missed.
