How to Delete Autofill in Firefox

By default, Mozilla Firefox tracks the text you enter into every website search box and form field. Whenever you begin typing data into a form, Firefox compares the letters against this stored collection of data and suggests autofill options if the terms appear to match. This behavior lets you save keystrokes and avoid re-entering repetitive words. However, it also serves to reveal portions of your Internet surfing activity to anyone with access to your browser. If you want to delete this information to protect your privacy, you can do so with a few mouse clicks.

  • Open a Firefox window, then click the "Tools" button in the top menu bar and select the "Clear Recent History" option.

  • Click the drop-down menu located at the top of the resulting dialog box and select "Everything."

  • Click the arrow next to the "Details" button.

  • Check only the box labeled "Form & Search History."

  • Click the "Clear Now" button. All of the auto-fill information saved by Firefox will be cleared within a few seconds.
