How to Find an Embedded Code on YouTube

Save

YouTube videos can be viewed on the website, from a computer or one of many mobile devices. If you want to share a video that you've posted to the site, or just one that you enjoy, embed it into your personal website or blog. YouTube provides a unique code for each video, making it easy to add videos to other sites. Once a video is embedded, it can be played on the other website with just the click of a button.

  • Search for a particular video using the search field at the top of any YouTube screen. Browse for videos by category from the YouTube homepage---click the name of a category to expand it and see more videos.

  • Go to a video's page by clicking its name or the thumbnail screen shot.

  • Click the icon labeled Embed located under the video. A box will open in the same window, containing a unique code for embedding the video.

  • Copy and paste the embedded code to your clipboard by highlighting it, right-clicking your mouse and selecting Copy. Right-click in the space where you want to place the code and select Paste.

Tips & Warnings

  • Uncheck the box next to Show Related Videos so that when the video is embedded there is no frame containing links to other videos.
