How to Synchronize Twitter & Facebook

Save

Twitter and Facebook continue to be the two most visited social networks on the Internet, according to Alexa traffic ratings.

You can synchronize your Facebook and Twitter status updates by using a social-media management service. These websites allow users to update their status on dozens of social networking websites from one central location. Users need only to enter the login information for their Twitter and Facebook accounts to begin posting synchronized status updates.

  • Create an account at a social-media management site. Some of the most popular include Ping.fm (ping.fm/), HelloTXT (hellotxt.com/) and Hootsuite (hootsuite.com/signup?planId=1). Enter a username, password and all other information requested in the designated forms. Click the "Create Account" button, and the site will automatically log you in to your new account page.

  • Click the "Add Social Network" button on your account's main page. Click the "Facebook" link from the list of social networks. Enter your Facebook username and password, and then click the "Link Account" button. The exact names of the buttons vary from site to site, so check the website's support section for specifics.

  • Click the "Add Social Network" button again and select "Twitter" from the list of networks. Enter your username and password. Click the "Allow" button when Twitter asks if you want an outside application to update your account.

  • Type a status update into the "Update" field on your account's main page. Click the "Update" button and wait several minutes. Log in to your Facebook and Twitter pages as you normally would to verify that the update reached both accounts.
