How to Uninstall Firefox Completely From Vista

Firefox is a free, open-source and standards-compliant Web browser from Mozilla. Firefox 4, released in March 2011, is the fastest Firefox version relative to its prior releases. However, if you don't like the latest version of Firefox or if you no longer use the Web browser, you can uninstall the program from your computer to free up space. Completely uninstalling Firefox on Windows requires more than just removing it from the Control Panel. Additional steps are necessary to ensure a complete uninstall of the program.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "X" button on the top right corner of the Firefox program window if the program is open and running.

    • 2

Click the "Start" icon on the Windows Vista taskbar to open the Start menu. Select "Control Panel." The Control Panel window appears.

    • 3

Click "Uninstall a Program" in the Programs section. The Control Panel window refreshes and loads a listing of programs installed on the computer.

    • 4

Scroll down to Mozilla Firefox. Right-click "Mozilla Firefox" and select "Uninstall." A Mozilla Firefox Uninstall Wizard window appears.

    • 5

Click "Next" to continue. Click to check the box labelled "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to remove your Firefox user data and settings.

    • 6

Click "Uninstall." Wait for the uninstall process to complete and then click "Finish."

    • 7

Manually delete the Firefox installation folder located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox" to remove installed plugins and other folders and files not removed by the Firefox uninstall program.
