How to Upload Pictures to Facebook From Your Hard Drive

Facebook makes sharing photos fast and painless. There is no need to send email with huge files attached to each person. You can share photos individually or in an album and you can choose who will be able to see them. Whether they are photos of your latest vacation, pictures of a high school reunion or your latest Photoshop feat, you are just a few clicks away from sharing them with the world.

      Go to your Facebook home page. Click the "Photo" tab next to "Status." Click "Upload a Photo" to select a photo from your hard drive to upload. After you choose your photos, you can add a comment about the photo as if you were updating your status. Click "Share" when you are ready to publish it. The photo will appear on your friends' news feeds.

      Click the "Photo" tab on your Facebook home page and select "Create an Album" if you want to add photos to a new album. You will be prompted to select photos on your hard drive to upload. Select the pictures via the file dialog box. You can select multiple files. As the files are being uploaded, type a name for the new album and choose the image quality and visibility setting for the album. Click "Create an Album" to be taken to the new album.

      Click "Photos" on the navigation bar on the left column of your Facebook home page. If you do not see it, try clicking "More." When the photo dashboard appears in the middle column, click the button "Upload Photos" with the plus sign on it. You will be asked to select files from your computer to upload.

      Click "Edit My Profile" if you want to change your profile picture. Go to "Profile Picture" on the navigation bar on the left. When the photo upload page appears, click "Browse" and select a new profile image to use. Or click "Take a Picture" to grab a picture of yourself with your Web cam. You need a Web camera connected to your computer to use the "Take a Picture" option.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before you share a photo, you can choose the visibility setting. Click the arrow next to the padlock icon to choose who among your friends may see the photo. You can also change the visibility settings for your existing photos and albums via the "Privacy Settings" page.
