Garlic oil is a juice extracted from pure garlic cloves by steeping garlic in olive oil. It is often used for flavoring in culinary dishes of all types. One of the chief characteristics of garlic oil is its profound potency in small doses which causes it to only be sold in small increments. Garlic oil itself can be expensive at local grocery stores. Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 garlic bulb
  • Small pan
  • Water
  • Chef's knife
  • Mesh strainer
  • Storage jars with lids

Instructions

    • 1

      Peel garlic cloves completely and wash in cool water.

    • 2

      Heat olive oil in a small pan until it is nearly boiling. Reduce heat and simmer below boiling.

      Crush the garlic cloves with the broad end of a chef's knife until the cloves are crushed into chunks.

      Add the garlic to the warmed oil and stir for 10 to 20 minutes or until the garlic bits are a golden brown.

      Remove from heat and strain the oil through a fine mesh strainer.

      Store the oil in jars until they are ready for use.
