There are, however, many resources for the gay male and female that can help you meet other gay people. These methods are useful for dating or for simply finding new gay friends.

      Join a free dating Web site and search for gay people. Most dating Web sites, such as EHarmony or OKCupid have options to filter search options by sexual preference. There are also sites focused directly on homosexual dating, such as Gay Dating.

      Look up gay bars in your hometown using the phone book or online sources. These bars are perfect for meeting new gay people. Some bars focus on either male or female customers while many welcome both gay male and females.

      Read the newspaper personals to find gay personals. You can also place a personal in the newspaper yourself. Make sure you include your phone number as well as your purpose, such as friendship or dating. You can also use Craigslist to find gay listings.

      Hang out the gay literature section in book stores. Look through the different books and wait for a person to come into the section. Strike up a conversation with them to find out why they are in the section. Many people will be reluctant, so be patient.
