Inspect your window to determine the manufacturer. Look for a logo or writing printed on the bottom corner of the glass on the window. Write down all the information that is etched in the glass.

Determine the type of window and write it down. Double hung windows slide up and down. Sliders open side to side. Casement windows crank open outward and have hinges at the side. Awning windows crank open outward and have hinges at the top.

Run a tape measure along the length and width of the visible glass in the window and record the measurements. The screen size will match these measurements. Write down the exterior color of the window even if it is white. Many manufacturers offer a variety of different color windows and the color of the screen needs to match the color of the window.
