How to Cancel Your Telus Contract

Save

Telus is a wireless company located in Canada. The company offers wireless phone, data and mobile Internet plans to customers throughout the country. Although the company does offer a prepaid mobile phone plan that doesn't require a contract, many plans do require that you agree to a two- to three-year service contract. If you've decided not to remain a Telus customer, you can cancel your contract with Telus at any time.

  • Go to a local Telus store, or call Telus customer service. To call from your Telus handset, dial "*611" (without the quotation marks). To dial its customer service office from a non-Telus phone, see Resources.

  • Tell the representative that you wish to end your contract. Give the representative your full name, wireless number and account PIN or password.

  • Pay the amount owed on your bill with a debit or credit card, if canceling over the phone. In person, you can pay with cash, or a debit or credit card.

  • Pay the cancellation fee. As of April 2011, the cancellation fee for wireless phone service is either $100 or $20 multiplied by the number of months remaining in the contract, whichever is greater. If you are canceling a data service with an email feature, you must pay an additional $200 cancellation fee. Once the cancellation fee is paid, the contract is terminated.
