How to Mute on Your Avaya Phone

Muting your Avaya phone can be a lifesaver when you feel the sudden urge to sneeze or cough while talking with someone. If there's a sudden explosion of background noise, such as dogs barking or a passing siren, you may need to mute the line. Since the receiver is often next to the other person's ear, unwanted noises can come through very loud and clear. To save yourself unwanted embarrassment, turn on mute.

Instructions

1. Dial the number you wish to call.

2. Press the "MUTE" button to stop the phone from transmitting your voice. It's the button with a phone with a line through it.

3. Press the button again to turn off mute.
