Knit Beanie Instructions
A beanie is a tight-fitting stocking cap. They are largely popular in England, but are becoming more fashionable around the world. Beanies are made by following specific knitting patterns and can be customized with different colors and patterns. When you know how to knit your own beanie, you won't have to spend extra money buying one from the store. It will also give you the opportunity to create a customized beanie in your favorite colors.

1
Cast the wool onto your circular knitting needles. Start with 72 stitches of the main color wool for your beanie. There are two different types of cast ons that work for making a beanie. Choose from the normal cast on or the cable cast on. The cable cast on has a tighter hold while normal casting on provides more of a stretch.

2
Push a scrap piece of wool through the last loop at the end of your stitches. This will act as a marker and help you keep your place as you knit around the beanie.

3
Join the knitting together so that it makes a circle. This will start the base of your beanie.
-
4
Knit two regular stitches and purl one stitch. This will give the beanie a ribbed look at the bottom. Repeat this process around the bottom of the beanie and continue upwards to create ten rows of ribbing.

Start the eleventh row by knitting eight regular stitches. Combine two stitches together at the ninth stitch. Repeat this pattern until you are at the end of the eleventh row.
