How to Remove a Domain From a HostGator Account

Save

A domain can be added to any HostGator account through the control panel. These domains have their own distinct websites. They must be registered separately through the domain registrar's website. Though the domain is registered separately, the document root folder is stored on HostGator and all of the files associated with the site are stored on the HostGator account holder's Web space. The domain can later be removed from HostGator if desired through the control panel.

  • Log into the HostGator cPanel. The address is your main domain followed by "/cpanel" (without the quotes). For example: http://mydomain.com/cpanel

  • Click on "Addon Domains" under the "Domain" subsection.

  • Look at the bottom portion of the page entitled "Actions."

  • Click on the "Remove" button and select the domain you wish to remove.
