How to Tell Who Unfollows You on Twitter

When someone begins "following" you on Twitter by subscribing to your account, you receive a friendly email from Twitter. You receive no such email when someone "unfollows" you---so if you want to know who's dropping off your reader list, you must use one of several third-party applications. All these apps essentially do the same thing: they notify you when someone unfollows your account. One sends email notifications daily; another sends them only when someone has unfollowed you; and another provides notification right in Twitter itself.

Instructions

Get instant email notifications of unfollowings with TwUnfollow. Go to twunfollow.com, click "Sign in with your Twitter account," enter your user name and password and click "Allow." You'll now receive an email automatically whenever someone unfollows you.

Get daily email notifications of unfollowings with Qwitter at useqwitter.com---enter your Twitter user name and email address, then click "Join Qwitter." Each day you'll receive an email updating you on your Qwitter status and displaying the user names of unfollowers.

Get notification of unfollowings directly in Twitter with Goodbye, Buddy! Visit goodbyebuddy.com, click "Sign in with Twitter," enter your user name and password and click "Allow." The service may take a few days to "warm up," but eventually you'll begin receiving Twitter messages whenever someone unfollows you.
