You've guided your Sim through their entire life in "The Sims 3," and finally, they're all grown up and ready to get married. If your Sim has found that special someone and gotten engaged, all that's left to do is plan the wedding. In "The Sims 3," you have two choices for wedding planning; you can host a private wedding for the happy couple and any nearby family members, which is ideal for getting married quickly, but if you like parties and have lots of friends, consider planning a public wedding.

Click on a phone inside your engaged Sims' house, or click directly on an engaged Sim and select "Cell Phone."

Scroll through the menu that opens, and then select "Throw Party At..." The city map opens. Select a location for the wedding, such as one of the city's parks or the beach. Any public location is accessible for weddings.

Set an appropriate start time for the wedding, generally between nine in the morning and five in the evening. If your wedding is in the middle of the night, most people won't come.

Select "Wedding Party" when asked if this is a special party type. Set the apparel type to "Formal."

Click on everyone you want to invite to the wedding in the "Invite" list. Invite all of your friends and family members, as well as co-workers, if desired. Do the same for your fiancée.

Open the city map about two hours before the wedding starts. The hours move quickly in the Sim's world, so you must get to the wedding location on time. Click on the location where the wedding will be held, and select "Go here." Issue this command for every Sim in your household.

Select a Sim to issue the "Get Married" command when you're at the wedding location. If the male Sim issues the command, the female takes his last name. If the female selects "Get Married," the male receives her last name. After the ceremony, the marriage is now official.

Tips

The community lot where you hold your wedding must be designated as a park.

Warnings

If your Sim's marriage just isn't working out, use the "Mean" and "Break Up" social interaction to end the relationship.
