How to Undelete a Book on Your Kindle

As of the date of publication, the Kindle e-reader allows you to store over 3,500 books -- but even with that much storage, as a book lover you may fill your Kindle rapidly, so sometimes it might be necessary to delete books, either to make more room for new books or to reverse an accidental book download. If you need to get a deleted item back, access the Kindle's archive.

Instructions

    • 1

Power your Kindle device on and wait for the home screen to load.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Archived Items" folder and press the center of the directional pad to select that folder.

    • 3

Click down on the directional pad until the name of the book you want to undelete is underlined.

    • 4

Click the center of the directional pad to select this book. The Kindle screen goes blank for a brief moment, then displays a message stating that your item is being downloaded.

    • 5

Check the Kindle screen for the book, which appears on-screen automatically. The book re-appears on whatever page you were reading when you deleted the item; the title page is displayed if you never read the book.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your Kindle book was part of a book group prior to deletion, it does not automatically reappear in that collection. Add the book to the collection of your choice using the "Add to Collection" option.
